Info about Cat Photos page

This post is for all Cat Photo related topics. If you have questions or comments regarding the cat photo page, please post them below in the comments section and I will try to address them here.

Cat Photos Page? Huh?
A while back I created a Random Cat Photo Page and a Random Cat Photo Google Gadget. Both have become very popular.

Can I add/submit my own cat pictures?
I am working on a way for everyone and anyone to add/submit their own photos to the page/gadget. If you’d like to be notified when the feature is ready, you can send an email to catphotos at esaba.com and I’ll add you to the notify list. Please do not email me your photos. I will not add any photos I get through email.

    can i submit photos?
    my cat is really funny.

    Thanks.

    Tom

  5. Whitney:

    Whitney

  6. rita:

i think you will have a huge response from everyone who loves cats and has cats that i know have captured interesting photos of their adorable cats.
i would love to also know when you get this feature done, i have a few i would be happy to share

  7. Jon Durden:

How do I give u some pretty awesome kitty pics?

  8. Princess Drea:

Love this page, and can’t wait till I can submit some pix of my troublesome trio!
    Prrrrrr….

  9. Crishna:

My cat “Spaz” has earned his name well, he lives with his 2 friends “Hella and Twitch”. And I believe they all would love some of their pictures submitted too.

  10. E:

I wanted to thank you for this iGoogle gadget! I love it.

  11. J:

Do you have a version available for myspace?

  12. Caitlin:

Love the iGoogle gadget; it has killed much boredom while at work.

Out of curiosity, though, do you have a photobucket or something like that with all of these photos on it? There are a few that I’ve seen here that I’d really like to snag, but it’s hard to find particular pics after you’ve clicked past them.

  13. zardeth:

Love the pics, but is there any way you can stop uploading ones with broken english and ridiculously made-up words? Most of us can read, and comments like “oh noes oober cat naut likes watir” turn otherwise cute cat photos into insults to our intelligence. Just a thought. Opps, eye meanz just a thot kk thinkz. BLAHHHHH

  14. Aracelis:

What? I love the comments! and I love the photos! Let me know when you can submit our photos…

  15. Jennifer:

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your cat photos! Amidst the chaos and anger we see and experience daily, these photos of our loving and playful companions are
a wonderful reminder of how simple and accepting life can be, if we let it.
Thanks again for the daily dose of fun, warmth and compassion.

  16. Janet:

There are several pics of a fluffy B&W cat with a huge spotted cat whose head size, open-mouth diameter, and fang size are clearly not those of a domestic animal. Is that cat fully grown? Is it always going to be safe for it to live with the B&W? What kind of cat is it? Just curious.

  17. asaaki:

i’m also really curious about that huge spotted cat janet just mentioned above.

  18. Keyser Soze:

Janet, perhaps its a Bengal cat?

  19. Mike:

    Hi,

I really like your cat photos, which I refer to in the blogs I have for communicating with my kids.
    Thanks.

I do agree with Zardeth though.
It would be nice if photo providers could provide their text independently of the images.
There are many images I skip because of the IMHO awful text.

    Cheers,
    Mike.

  20. Susan:

I saw a cat pic on here that just lol-d me and I cant find it again. Its a cat with a big lazer shooting out of his mouth and hes sayin im in your thread firin my lazer. Can you please lead me to it again??

  21. Chris:

What great pics! I love the random cats, although I must agree with Mike and Zardeth – I avoid the pics with tard-speak all over them, won’t even click them, otherwise great site.

  22. Chris C:

I love the gadget…SERIOUSLY cheers me up on those downer days.

  23. Mary Moschkau:

I think there are alot of really funny photo’s, I narrate the one’s with wording and my kids just about pee themselves!!!! We crack up all the time looking at this site and as a cat person myself I would love to have my ccats on here, they take great pic’s and would be a great additon to the site!! Thanks for the laughs, Mary

  24. Mary Moschkau:

Mary again, I am USA all the way but I think that alot of the broken english or “made up words” are from people in different countries where “english” is a second language to them, but obviously they love their pets as much as any one else, I think there are alot more compelling problems in our world today to worry about, these pic’s are a way for all of us to share some well deserved laughter,,,so as BoB Marley would say “Don’t worry , Be Happy”

  25. scott:

i don’t think so, Mary. All the captions are intentional misspellings and grammatical errors made on purpose. It’s not really possible for people who actually learn a language and how to spell it to transform it in such a way.

A piece of advice for the webmaster of this fabulous site: would it be possible to add “next” and “previous” buttons to the cat pics section? If I click too fast on the “Next random pic” link and accidentally omit a great photo, it is not possible to view it again (the “back” browser button just redirects to the previous site I was visiting).

  26. CB:

@ Mary… They are LOLcats. They are supposed to be written that way. Not illiterate or international writers… Google LOLcats. OMG Intarweb Noobs.

  27. chris:

i am addicted to random cat photos. i can spend a good half hour easy just clicking. to capture a picture you love, right click on the photo, select copy link, open a new tab and enter the link. that is the spot for that picture and you can save it/bookmark, etc. i do this all the time to share my favorites with my sister.

90% of the time the lol speak is Hi-larious. why does it make a cute picture funny? i just don’t know

  28. chris:

or right click on photo and select “copy image location” or “view image” then copy link from bar

  29. Telulu:

How do you put me in the list? what do I do so I’ll be in that list?

    Gr8 site by the way

  30. HJ:

Hey – love the random cat photos, but I have a creepy feeling about the one file that looks like a cat being set on fire by a little girl with a lighter. Can you pull this one?? Image file name #281926

  31. Angie Harbinson:

Do you have any info on image 2117 with the Akita and the black and white cat? It looks like a Japanese Akita versus an American. We own a Japanes Akita and find that they are very rare in the US. Would love to be able to reach out to the owner.

  32. Malli:

Elias, ever since I started using Google as my home page and got some gadgets for it including yours, I have been looking at your great cat pictures several times a day. I have also sent your cat photo website address to my cat loving friends. I am looking forward to your release of instructions on how we can upload our own cat pictures to you.
Your other pages have some useful info too — Thank You and Keep up the good work!

  33. Dreamersland:

I think it is funny that people think say how much they like this site but then ask questions like “Telulu:

How do you put me in the list? what do I do so I’ll be in that list?” People, how about this. READ the WHOLE amount before you post. You would then learn two things.

    1. To submit your cat photo: YOU CAN’T. Not yet. He/she/they are working on it.
    2. To make sure you are on the list to find out WHEN you can: “I am working on a way for everyone and anyone to add/submit their own photos to the page/gadget. If you’d like to be notified when the feature is ready, you can send an email to catphotos at esaba.com and I’ll add you to the notify list. Please do not email me your photos. I will not add any photos I get through email.”

  34. Dreamersland:

Any way, just stopping by to tell you great blogs. I enjoy reading more and just LOVE your cat photo’s. I have a few of my own so I can’t wait till you get the other working.

  35. KatzundMaus:

Just adopted a “mask and mantle” B/W cat and suddenly it seems like there are million ones on this site ALMOST just like him, except each one is a tiny bit different.
I enjoy sharing this semi-secret world of goofy kitty-boys and -girls that only cat owners understand, and I look forward to sending some of my pictures, too(been taking them for 30 years).

  36. Annie:

I love the cat photos but there are some which show – and I don’t mean enhanced ones – cats being dressed up and even worse, a kitten being held up by its front paws behind its back. This is a seriously dangerous and uncomfortable way for a cat to be held. And cats do the funniest things anyway without subjecting them to humiliation by sticking things on their bodies – some respect, please! Happily, these pics are in the minority. And the enhanced ones are usually incredibly creative without causing harm to the cat.
Otherwise, this is one of my most frequently visited pages, so please add me to the email list!

  38. e:

do you have an index of the photos? i have the widget and love it,
but i wanted to see enlarged of the ‘kitties in the trees’ and have
clicked my brains out…never to see it again!

    ugh

    thanks!

  39. Mike:

Really enjoy the random cat photos, thanks!

  40. Dick:

I am disturbed by some of the cat images I have viewed on your web site.
I think some of the images border on, or cross the line on animal cruelty.

    Some examples are: the cat with most of its fur removed except for the head, paws and Etc;
The malnourished cat on the hard drive.
The 40 or 50 pound, grossly overweight cat.

I have saved about 50 images to my hard drive and use my screen saver to show me the slide show of these images.
I will never download the above types of disgusting images.

Is there not a censor who can look at the images before they are posted and can make a decision on whether the image
    is appropriate ?

    Dick (with 2 cats)

  41. Norcliff:

Oh Dick with 2 cats, chill. You should know that cats are like people, they come in all sizes, shapes and colors; happy, sad and a crazy mix of both.
40 or 50 pounds overweight? Let’s not hold our best furry friends at person standards, because they don’t us to theirs.
    Cats rock.

  42. jen:

Love the photos. Hate the moronic “baby talk” text speak that comes with some of the pics. Pics are cute or funny or unique as they are. Why add dumbed down version of the English language?

  43. Den:

I too have the widget on my igoogle home page. The language is supposed to be the cat speaking. After all you can’t expect them to be able to spell. I am a great lover of cats. The only ones I find weird are those without hair, though of course it must be great for those who have alergies. The very thought of stroking that naked head and ears makes me shiver.

  44. BrianDP:

Zardeth, Mike, Jen, and others have expressed only the tip of the iceburg on how I feel about the language attached to the bottom of some of these pictures.

I don’t like to be insulting, nor do I like to have my intelligence, or the intelligence of these wonderful creatures – insulted. So, I want to tread lightly, and take the high road on this subject.

I recommend we should put it to a vote. Not just those who say “I don’t like it”, vs.’ everyone else, but unless someone definitely posts “Loved the captions” or “Disliked the captions” should the vote be counted. Those who do not mention either way their feelings on the captions, then they choose not to vote either way. Somehow, I just can’t see a whole crowd of people going,

“oh my god! I loved those little captions! I wake up early every
morning just so I can check the site to see if any new captions are there!”

I feel embarrassed for the animal. I would like to be able to pass on the pics to friends and family, but unfortunately, more and more of the pictures have been narrated in this fasion, and since I feel insulted, I don’t want my F&F to get the same feeling. How about putting the text as an actual text attachment, then a person could check in their profile whether they wished to be insul- I mean they could check whether they want to see, or not to see these comments.

May I suggest to the one who insists on putting captions on the bottom of pictures, to actually try to form sentences with words that are spelled correctly and using a modecom of reason in the sentence structure. When I was younger, I used to spell, and otherwise make my posts appear in the “baby talk” form because I didn’t know how to spell, or form sentences with proper structure. More though because I didn’t know the difference between there and their, too, two, and to. With just a little effort you CAN write at the 5th grade level or above.

  45. BrianDP222:

zI agree with Zardeth, Mike, Jen, and others about the subtitles

I recommend we should put it to a vote. “Oh my God! I loved those little captions! I wake up early every
morning just so I can check the site to see if any new captions are there!”

I challenge the mad titler to try to form sentences with words that are spelled correctly. Sentences that speak with intelligence about our furry friends.

When I was younger, I used to spell, and otherwise make my posts appear in the “baby talk” form because I didn’t know how to spell, or form sentences with proper structure. I figured if I wrote like that, then they wouldn’t know I couldn’t write properly.

  46. Ade:

    Hate the captions, totally inane!!

  47. Scott McJock:

I agree with you BrianDP, however, I won’t be as diplomatic as you. The person who wrote those captions has to be intellectualy challenged to say the least; perhaps someone with special needs/ learning difficulties.

Norcliff, did you write them? You are clearly missing the point that “Dick with 2 cats” has made here. Go back and read it again, take notes if you have to!!

  48. Caroline:

    Hi there,

I’m always amused by your iGoogle gadget! I am also an owner of two really silly and adorable cats; please include me in your update when an “Add My Photo” option is available.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

  49. Den:

To BrianDP222, Scott McJock, and other complainers

If you don’t like the captions why don’t you go to visit cat photos somewhere else? After all this is Elias’s blog and the whole point of a making a blog is that you can put whatever YOU want on it. Other people’s opinions can be taken into account if the blogger wants.

  50. Dick:

To Den, briandp, Norcliff, et all of their ilk:

Den pointed out that this is indeed Elisa’s blog.
If Elisa chooses to post certain disgusting and disturbing cat images without proper screening, it is his right. (I think)

    BrianDP222 wrote:

    You don’t get it.
    Its not your blog.

I hate the large blocks of idiotic, childish, misspelled text that some photos have, that obliterating a other wise very cute cat /dog/other pet image.
I have sorted through about 1500 images and have downloaded 217 to date.
There ARE cute pictures on the blog.

Additionally you don’t understand that people who spray paint or color dye their cats to achieve some non normal appearance, are most likely disturbed.

Have you seen the image with a stoned chick who created (I hope its not real ), a image of her igniting a cat with a lighter?

How about the image of someone who restrained a cat, and cut most of the fur from it, just to take a picture ?

Obese cats are not “cute” and the owners are responsible for creating them.
Cats don’t hop in the car and head to the local pet shop for High calorie food, but you do…

Dick with 2 cats.. (loved and appreciated as they are cats)

  51. jen:

To Den: If, as you state, the blogger can take our opinions into account if s/he wants, then why can’t we “complain” all we want? It’s a blog. Also, my cat isn’t an idiot, so he doesn’t misspell words or talk like a 12 year old girl texting her friends.

  52. Tracy:

I love most of the cat pix and can’t wait to be able to give you some of my own. Please let me know when that option is available! As far as the convos about pros and cons of baby talk on some of the pix: my cat’s name is King Max the hell cat and he finds the baby talk beneath him and an insult to the feline race as a whole.
(though my less intellegent but very friendly/happy dog Buddy thinks they are a hoot!)

    Tracy

  53. J:

It would be great if there were a thumbnail page or a page wherein one could download multiple pictures simultaneously, given that you’ve breached the 1000-photo mark.

  54. Dick:

    well, here I go again..
I hope there is only one misguided airbrush artist out there, who is disfiguring their own personal companions. (cats)

Notice the expressions on the cats..
Do they know they are being defaced ?
    I think so.. :(

what causes people to modify their cats ?
I believe it is a ego issue.
    “I am, therefore I can”.
    Really sad.

How about airbrushing the inside of your colon ?
I’m sure you would appreciate the image, as you are the only one who could view it..

Dick with 2 cats.. (who are loved and appreciated as they are: cats.

  55. Shar:

Anyone stop to think that the “airbrushed” cats might actually be “photoshopped” cats? Do we all really need to just jump right to the wrong conclusion?

I think some of the added texts are quite funny–and they are supposed to be mispelled and talk that way. I don’t find that it’s an insult to my intelligence (although some make me question the intelligence of the owner of the pic…) or the intelligence of cats.

Can’t we just enjoy the pictures, ignore the text, and be happy basking in the warmth of kitty-pics???

  56. kajunkute:

I have pictures I would like to submit also. I have three cats and three raccoons. Would like to know how, when and where to go to be considered for photo submission. Please let me know when this is possible

  57. Dick:

well Shar I hate to tell you this , but there is no Santy Clause.

re : “airbrushed” cats might actually be “photoshopped” cats?

    A few images obviously are.

However, if you have the capability to examine and enlarge the images while they are still on your screen, (as I can) you see that “most” are not “photoshopped”

“photoshopped” is turning into a expression that people who are not familiar with image manipulation, use to express what their opinion is, not necessarily based on actual knowledge.

If you want to see an typical example of a “photoshopped” cat, provide your email address in this feedback forum and I’ll send you one .. :)

Dick with 2 cats.. (who are loved and appreciated as they are: cats.

  58. tabbymom:

Hi there. I really enjoy your site, I have four cats of my own. I have a question about a certain photo I saw a long time ago but haven’t seen again. It was a picture of a cat (duh) sitting in front of a food bowl (on the left side of the pic) and another animal (a ferrit I think) eating out of the bowl on the right side of the pic. The caption is “Wait…what?”.

Can you send me the link pleeeeeeeeease? I would really appreciate it!

  59. Iftifar:

We need to vote. When you allow people to submit cat photos you should provide a method such that we can vote on the photos. Later you can add an option to show the photos by ranking.

  60. Dick:

    Iftifar: wrote..We need to vote.

I don’t believe in voting on what is acceptable and what is not.
Besides, how will you identify the images to other “voters” since you may never see the same image again ?
Further, if you save the image as a jpig, sure it has a unique id.
So I guess everybody has to save ALL images so you know which image you are voting on.
You seriously haven’t given this any thought….
    Elias’s blog is his business.

If I wrote a blog, I would put in it exactly what persona I wanted to project, and what I want in my blog.
I would not alter it because someone wanted to turn my work into a public election.

I admit some images show disrespect, and are unkind to the cats, and I have so stated.

But its not my blog, and If I elect, I can go look at cat pictures on another site..

Dick with 2 cats.. (who are loved and appreciated as they are: cats.

  61. anon:

For those that still think cat owners are really painting their cats, check out the website and you will recognize some of the pictures…

  62. anon:

You can click my name to get there or copy/paste the link below:

    http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/paintedcats.asp

  63. Dick:

I would like to personally thank anon for setting the record straight on some ” spray painted” cats.
Do not be fearful of visiting his posted link.
I did, and felt much relieved, to see some of the painted cats that I had previously thought disgusting.

There are some cats that have been shaved however, that I doubt have had their image manipulated.
You should note the “shiny camera flash” image on the “skin” of the cats involved.
Also, I have never seen a more disgusted expression on a cat, as one of the shaved cat images displays.
    Manipulated ? I don’t know…

Dick with 2 cats.. (who are loved and appreciated as they are: cats.

  64. Julie:

I’d like to submit some crazy cat photos…I have three of my own. Is the site up yet to do this?

  65. chris:

    good lord.
seriously people? the “poor” cats just know they are being humiliated?? while i love kittys and don’t want to see them hurt, that is just silly.

I, for one, LOVE the catspeak. So there. I don’t know why it is funny but it makes me laugh. It makes just another cat picture doing things my cat does all the time much funnier. i don’t like every pic written all over, but occasionally it is hilarious and i click through them for the hilarity not the Awe-another-cute-cat.

photoshopped- they took the image and digitally enhanced it. calm down buddy. many of these images ARE manipulated, objects added, cats added, cats colored, etc. Those painted cats have been around the internet for years.
No cats were harmed in the photoshopping of this pic

  66. Slawko:

if you want my Warner Bros cat photo from Poland, please write to me;on post

  67. melissa:

As a pet lover and owner, it is quite disturbing to see photos posted of cats in “harmful” scenarios, such as a GUN placed next to a sleeping cat. This is not humorous or amusing.

You often post photos which give potential violent themes.

It would be most appreciated if you maintained ethical standards for the treatment of cats. Even these suggestions “appear” as harm. What is the intention?

    thank you for your time

  68. saira umar:

hai i have a cat and i love him a lot I want to give you some cat photos so other people can also see my beautifuul cat how should i send and show in this site plz tell me saira umar

  70. Lyn Walden:

I have 3 beautiful Maine Coon cats and would like to submit pictures.

  71. liron:

i want to point a rather ugly picture that was posted on the 04/1/09 at 0030, it is picture no.266 i think of a cat wearing a “kipa” which means he is a jewish cat. this is not funny for me as a jew from israel, i think it is even worse than only a suggested anti-Semitism ! it is “by accident” on the days that we fought the terrorists organization -” hamass” that’s really funny ha?! more than the CNN and the BBC it if just like in Hitler time.
I think you need to apologize on this web forom and if not i will personaly do whatever i can to bring your blog down! you hypocrite!
    liron

  72. liron:

for anyone who wants to judge for himself ,this is the link :http://blog.esaba.com/projects/catphotos/catphotos.php?image=266
i will send it to others that might erase the smile from your face on your homepage

  73. Missy Springer:

I enjoy your cat photos a lot. I’ve always had cats, my last two, Moe & Lucy were really wonderful, and I loved them dearly. A forest fire burned our home in South Lake Tahoe down, we were out of town, and when my son-in-law tried to get to the house the fire department wouldn’t let him. I have been mourning the cats ever since, in fact haven’t been able to get another one – we got (gasp) a dog (though small, like a cat, a cairne terrier).

My only comment is that I really think cats are the best pets…I’ve always thought they were very, very smart.

I’m just wondering – why can’t they spell better?? All the cats on your google pictures need spelling lessons! (ha ha)

Thanks for the pictures – keep it up!

  74. Jac:

I have some really good pictures of my cats that i would like to send you! I love the gadget…i look at it everyday :).

  75. Julie:

I have the google gadget on my homepage and I browse through the cat pictures everytime I need a lift, whether at home or at work. I love them, keep them coming! I would also like to contribute along with many others who have added comments. Please add me to your list.

  76. Erin:

I just wanted to say I love these cat photos! They make me smile even when I am in the worst mood. Thanks so much for them. I have two cats my self and can’t wait till you get it worked out where we can send in our funny cat photos.

  77. janice:

I agree with most of the comments above. Let the cat’s do the talking, and please stop with the baby talk or whatever that is supposed to be.
Other than that, thanks to all the people who upload these wonderful pictures! It makes my day sometimes when they pop up on igoogle!

  78. PLiddy:

So if you can’t submit a funny cat photos…how do you get them in the first place?

    Just curious.

  79. Ellen smith:

Most of your comments on the photos are stupid. The photos are better by themselves, because you can’t even spell!!! Leave off the stupid comments.

  80. Veritas:

    Duh Ellen Smith… They’re LOLCats it’s called LOLspeak. http://www.speaklolspeak.com or speaklolcat.com

    Check out http://www.icanhascheezburger.com too

  81. Deb:

I enjoy the photos a lot. Could you please lose the comments? They often ruin a great picture.
    Thanks for all the smiles.

  82. Brittney:

I love the cat pics they way they are, can you please stop writing on them?!? They would be much better with out text I can’t understand on them!

    THANKS

How can I go back and search for a photo I saw a few days ago? I wanted to show it to a friend. It is the one of a grey and white cat in shower with text something like ” no moor nakid men, maw,maw ” I think she would find it funny. Thank you.

  84. Anne:

I am curious about one of the cat’s that appears several times in the Gadget (which I really enjoy, by the way). He appears to be an ocelot. A couple of the pictures show him in a bathtub catching a large catfish. Most housecats don’t enjoy getting wet and catfish or not, I don’t think any of my cats would jump in a bathtub full of water! I am just wondering if this guy is indeed an ocelot. http://blog.esaba.com/projects/catphotos/catphotos.php?image=1585
    Thanks!

  85. Sylvia:

It is impossible to send an email to: catphotos at esaba.com
Please remove the picture of the dog trying to mate with a poor helpless cat, it is in very poor taste and not funny. NO, it is not my photo. You really need to be looking at all of the photo submissions, some are in very poor taste and are NOT FUNNY or cute.

There are more photos of a male trying to copulate with another on your site. We enjoy the very cute and beautiful cat pictures, along with those that have mixed animals in them. But… please again I ask that you police the photos before they are posted and keep this site clean.

  86. Jeff:

I really wish the cat photos would use proper English. The words that are posted makes it seem as though the cat’s aren’t intelligent enough to speak proper English. Cat’s are very intelligent. I know my cat can speak proper English.

Also I would like to see a separate gadget for “cute cat pictures” and “funny cat pictures”. There seem to be more cute photos than funny cat photos. I love them all though. Just PLEASE brush up the English. Cat’s aren’t morons who cannot speak properly.

  87. Amy:

Doh, NOW I see that you don’t take photos via email. Sorry. :)

  88. Edith:

The cats with the intentionally misspelled and ungrammatical captions are greatly loved by my grandchildren who admire the cats at icanhascheezburger.com, so I am not offended by seeing a few of them on Google.

  89. saira:

hi how r u i like your site i have a beutifull cat i want that u show his photos on your web site plz tell me what to do how should i give u photos plz help me

  90. Julie:

Would it be possible to get the cat photos without the comments on them, some are funny but some are a bit stupid and ruin a good photo and to be honest most of the photos require no comment as they are funny on their own.

  91. Steve Weaver (U.K.):

Please notify when I can post my cats pic. Thank you.

  92. Brandi:

Please add me to your ‘notify’ list when we can add or send photos to you of our cats! Love the laughs your pictures bring when I open up my google home page each day! Love it!!

  93. ennia:

i love your google gadget but i really want to upload my personal cat’s photos and i don’t know how to do it.

  94. Margie:

Please notify when you can accept outside Funny Cat Photo content. I have some great ones staring our 3 Maine Coons.

  95. kas:

Some of the pix are not funny like the kitten that appears to be drowning in a glass of water and the cub tiger being manipulated by owners to simulate attacking a man’s head. This seems like a minor exploitation of animals that might lead kids to do some DANGEROUS thing with their cats. Please be very selective. Cute, not crazy, OK?

  96. BuzyBee:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP adding text to these already GREAT photos!! The text is annoying and makes me skip over the cute pictures!

  97. Andrea Jacobsen:

    Elias Saba:

I LOVE Funny Cat Photos! Iwould like to use some of the submitted photos in an online children’s book. Are you abe to track down who downlaoded the photos? I’d like to ask their permission to use the photos and give them a copyright. If you are unable to release their information, I understand. If that is the case, would you be able to ask them if it’s okay to give me their email address& put us in touch?
Photos I would like to use:
    781873
    288907
    893032

    Thank you!

  98. pati dee:

love the photo’s – hate the captions – especially the misspelled stupid/silly ones – they’re not funny – they only serve to reflect on the ignorance of the pet owner … let me know when i can submit photo’s of my babies … thanks!

  99. pati dee:

i agree whole heartedly with ‘Sylvia 4/13/09′ … there are many photo’s that a depict an animal being mistreated or the photo has been manipulated to appear that way … somebody should be policing the photo’s that are chosen for the gadget … i would gladly volunteer for that job … i would eliminate at least half of those posted.

  100. Diane Sanabria:

Love the funny cat photos-hate the stupid misspelled lettering ones and the onesthat abuse the kitties in the name of cute or funny—
I have some funny ones to send you–let me know when you want them!

  101. Becky Cleland:

I appreciate your funny cat photos in general, but there is one that makes me feel sick and horrified. It was shown on iGoogle just the other day: a picture of a white kitten having its front legs pulled backward by some person, who seems to be lifting the kitten by those legs. The kitten’s body is not built to allow its front legs to naturally move into that position, and there is evident considerable pain showing in the kitten’s face and the way its ears are held. It is nothing more or less than a kitten being tortured by having its body stretched and torn.

I ask you to please remove that terrible photo from the rest of your enjoyable collection. It makes me want to cry whenever it comes up again. And I certainly don’t want to see it encourage others to treat a cat that way. PLEASE REMOVE IT!!

  102. Midge Peters:

Please add my e mail address to your list of people who will send cat photo’s to you. Have you on my home page so I can see all the cat pictures.

  103. Liz:

Please add my e-mail to your list so I can offer up some of my adorable kittie pictures.

I agree with others that most of these pictures are adorable but there are some that imply people are doing mean things to the cats to get these pictures. I do look at these pictures daily (I am addicted as others are) and appreciate the effort that has been made to share these pictures with the rest of us.

  104. Julie:

I enjoy the cat photos everyday-THANK YOU! I only have one funny photo of my Mollie, but it’s a goody. She loves to spread out on our kitchen stools with all 4 legs hanging over and down. The pic was taken from behind and she is looking back at me like “WHAT?”

  105. Catherine C:

    Greetings:

Is there a way to purchase any of the photos? I would absolutely love a copy of the American Soldier in Iraq petting the stray cat, but I want it clean, without the writing on it.

I did crop the words out, but it would be so perfect having the original.

    Thank you.
    Catherine C

  106. Shirley Morris:

Is there a way to get a print of the picture of the yellow kitten looking in a mirror and seeing a lion? I would love a copy. Thank you. Shirley Morris

  107. Catherine C:

    Greetings:

Does anyone ever respond to posted questions? I, like others, have asked about obtaining original pictures on the cat site, but no one responds.

    What gives?

And… Could we please get some new pictures? I have looked at the same ones at least 10 times now.

    Catherine C

  108. Eliz:

I have been getting your random cat photos on my google homepage for a while now. Usually I love them, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into providing the photos for cat lovers. My criticism is not aimed at you. I am upset that there are cases where the cat is obviously very unhappy if not actually being abused. When a cat’s irises are huge, wide open, in bright light, that is a sign the cat is anxious and afraid. I don’t care if it looks cute with a funny hat. The hat is covering its ears and it cannot hear properly. If one truly loves a cat, one would not do ANYTHING unnecessary to hurt it. And I hope that the person bathing the cat in the shower had a real good reason to be doing so. Cats should not be bathed because their skin becomes very dry. The cat also appears to have been declawed, which is extremely cruel. The owner seems to want a cat but won’t accept the cat without “improving” it. You might want to be more judicious in the photos you put on line. An animal rights group may come calling asking about some of these photos.

p.s. I have to agree that the misspelled captions are very annoying. Many times the caption covers an interesting part of the picture, but more often – and worse – they just don’t make sense. Some of the words are not just misspelled. they have no meaning at all. So what’s the point of mucking up a great picture with gobbledegook? That’s just plain stoopid.

  109. Eliz:

BTW, for those who have asked about getting a copy or print of a photo. If your OS is Windows, you can left-click your mouse on a photo. On the menu that pops up, select “save image to disk.” The picture will be saved on your computer in Windows Explorer in the folder for My Pictures. You can then print it yourself. Or save the photo to a memory card or CD and take it to wherever you get photos printed, e.g., walgreens, Walmart, Ritz Photo, etc.

  110. Eliz:

I should have said right-click on a photo to get the pop-up menu. Sorry.

  111. Kathryn:

    Hi There,
I didn’t want this to be a public comment, I just don’t know how else to get a hold of you.
First let me say I enjoy the pictures you have on google of the cat photos. It is always a treat to see. EXCEPT, this one picture that I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it.
It is the picture of the cat with it’s mouth wide open and a shot of laser light is entering it’s mouth. Have you looked at that photo very closely ? The lazer light is in the shape of a PENIS. I started to complain to google then I though I would get a hold of you first. Care to comment ?

  112. Rebecca:

    Hello,
I was just reading all of the comments…that Dick guy was useless… Yeah, how do you send in cat photos? Or did I skip the person who said? I guess we can just email the person and ask them. If we can figure out how to do that too :) The comments on most of the pictures were hilarious and sorry people if you don’t like them. If you send in pictures you can say whether or not you want a comment with the picture. Simple! Also, you easily have the choice to not look at the pictures. I don’t understand why you make a riot over such a small thing… The colored, painted, and other things on cats were obviously computer generated. I don’t understand how people can think it was real…the pictures were great, and I hope people keep sending them in…if we can all figure it out :)
    Love the pictures!

  113. Rebecca:

Wow there are a LOT of complaints about the pictures…just don’t look at them!
Does anyone respond to the comments…?

  114. Rebecca:

Although some of the pictures ARE a little strange and I can’t tell if the cats are actually being abused or not. If so, that is incredibly cruel to animals. In a way, they have just as many rights as we do…

  115. Lyn:

Today there is a photo of a cat with his front legs held
behind him with force. Whether it is photoshopped or not
(I think it is real) it is very disturbing. Please stop
showing pictures of animals being abused. See Beck Cleland’s
letter Oct. 13, 2009. It really is sickening.

  116. Mitch:

OMG, it never ceases to amaze me how OCD people can be about spelling and “English language standards” on something like silly cat photo captions. (Don’t you all know that cats can’t spell? Much less speak or even understand human language?) I LOVE the captions. If this blog is a democracy, then my “vote” is to “keep” them as if the widget that picks the photos out had that kind of intelligence! Get a grip on reality people – computer programs that pick out random JPGs can’t analyze them for spelling! (What part of “Random” did you all not understand?)

Some people will complain about anything, and in the process, demand that everyone else complies to their particular sense of what is proper and right. That is just plain selfish and self-centered. If you don’t like it, change the channel or turn it off and don’t look. That’s what that button is for… silly humans. My cat has more sense.

  117. Janet:

I am building a bird site on WordPress, and am interested to know how your random cat photo app works. It looks like you got it from iGoogle. Does Google host your blog? If it is a Google app, do you know if there is one similar for Word Press – long shot I know – but thought I’d ask.

    Thanks!

  118. Lois Chilcott:

    Hi
Love cats, but please, please no more pictures of cats being held down and showered – dunked in water. Not funny! Plain cruel! Apart from these, love the photos of the cats ……….

  119. Toni:

Please let me know when I can upload my cat photos. Thanks

  120. Rob:

As a cat lover myself I feel that once in a great while there are some funny captions that are attached to these cat photos however; most are just plain stupid. We all know and understand that cats can’t speak, spell, write or understand any human language but to make them sound like something that has severe brain damage is way outside of being funny.
And yes there needs to be a review of the pictures that are submitted before they are posted, some of them are abusive.

  121. Rebecca:

Gotta love cats! I do agree with all of you that there are some stupid pictures and some where animals are being abused. The person who controls this site needs to start looking at the pictures before publishing them. Some of the captions ruin the pictures and make the situation seem worse. Others are hilarious! A few are not appropriate for kids though! I don’t think there are any new photos though…

  122. Neener:

There is pic that randomly showed today on my google home page. It is a picture of a white kitten being held by his 2 front paws while the rest of his body hangs. He is scared and you can’t tell if he is being dangled over a dog or water or what! This is not a funny picture. This poor baby looks like he is being abused. He/she is in pain! You don’t hold a kitty like that for ANY REASON!!! Not funny!!! Please take it off!!!!!!

  123. Lyn:

Another picture of that poor white kitten being held with his front legs behind him and his body hanging?
Legs probably dislocated by now. PLEASE don’t continue to encourage abuse.

  124. netta:

I don’t know who to report you to when you show cruetly to animals with photos of cats shaved and painted. You should be ashamed of accepting them and worse, showing them.

  125. Joanna:

Looks like the ability to add our own great cat photos isn’t going to happen, as the author stated they were “working on it” two years ago.

I also agree, someone should be moderating these and removing any where cats are obviously being abused.
BTW, a shaved cat is not abused. Sometimes an owner must shave their long haired cat because mats have become a serious problem (often because the cat has thick, long hair and despite brushing, his hair will still become hopelessly matted). So chill people, a shaved cat is not abused.

  126. joanne:

We are seriously addicted to your Google Gadget Random cat photo. Evertime I’m on Google I can’t resist looking at photo after photo.
I would love to know when I can submit some photos of my own. Please keep me informed.
Thanks for many hours of fun!
    Joanne

  127. Rebecca:

OK, it’s been a few months… why aren’t the pictures being moderated yet? Does Elias Saba or whoever even look at these comments or pictures? I am beginning to think not. And about the pictures: I do think the abused ones are real, and the paints are fake, but how come it hasn’t changed? And I agree with Joanna! Shaving cats is for convenience, not abuse!

  128. debbie parks:

I usually love all of your photos! But the one of the gray kitten with weird long haired whiskers (like handle bar mustache) is scary. Was this photo shopped or was this kitten abused? What can you (or we) do about those photos that appear to be abusing the cats?

  129. Jenny:

We ALL want to send in pictures !!!

    Please make it possible :~)))))

  130. nate:

The cat photos are cute but your dumd ass lame captions are f’n retarded…was steallin somthing whats up with that your not funny ..have someelse write the caption pleeaase!

  131. JanP:

Can’t wait to contribute cat photos – You make me smile every day! I want to help make others smile too!

  132. Alex:

My friend has your google cat photo gadget on her homepage. Usually the photos are cute and fun , but today 10/11/10 when she booted up there was a photo of a black and white short haired domestic with a dead squirrel in its mouth, apparently quite pleased with its catch. http://www.esaba.com/cats/catimagessimple35/917734_1.jpg How is this funny or cute??? I have lots of squirrels on my property. They are quite tame and will sit in my lap quite happily eating peanuts. They bring their babies and trust me to be with them. The squirrel in your photo may have had a nest of babies too young to fend for themselves that will now die a slow and unpleasant death. Cute photos are welcome, but cruel ones like this are not. I hope you will take it down.

  133. John Sewell:

I’d like to be notified when it becomes possible to post my cat photos to “Random
Cat Photos”. My e-mail address is shown above. I really enjoy and look forward to visiting
this feature on my IGoogle home page. Thanks.

    John S.

  134. Susan:

I have several funny cat photos for you.

  135. Rebecca:

This person isn’t responding to our comments. Get rid of the captions, and I will like the gadget on iGoogle more. I am done posting!

    Love cats:)

  136. phoebe:

I’m sending my email to be added to mailing list so I can add upload cat photo when your’e website app. can handle thses requests. thanx.

    phoebs@shaw.ca

  137. Wicked:

I would LOVE to be added to your mailing list!!! I breed kitties & they’re always doing crazy stuff & of course I have to take their pictures. I have some hilarious pictures! One of my kitties loves the bath tub & every time I go into the bathroom he’s right behind me racing for the tub & when I try to get him out he just rolls around & gives me attitude & the “stink eye” PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD ME SO I SHARE MY SILLY KIDS FOR ALL TO SEE!!! p.s. I love scrolling through all the funny pictures but there definately needs to be some new ones, the same ones are getting kid of old & are not as cute or funny as they were the first couple of times I scrolled through them. THANK YOU
    Sincerely
    Wicked

  138. Linda Philipp:

Love the photos, they certainly stand by themselves without the “comments”.

  139. Laura E:

LOVE the random cat photos – they make my day. Having contest with co-worker who can get their cat on your pics first! We get very little work done “tagging” each other with cat photos! Please notify me when you are able to take pictures from us! thanks

  140. CAT:

I wanted to submit some cute photos of my own cats. I also wanted to say that I find the cat painting photos and the cat bathing photos to be abusive. Cats lick their fur to clean it and no paint is so safe I would want a cat to ingest it. These photos encourage others to embark upon a dubious hobby which is discrespectful to cat’s right to health. As for washing cats, cats wash themselves. They are desert animals and detest being bathed. Shampoos and soaps are NOT good for them and sting the eyes. I am chemically sensitive to all such products and seriously doubt they are good for cats. The reason they look miserable in the photos is because the ARE miserable when bathed. I would like the photos screened so only kind shots are used and those who abuse their animals get feedback on how to establish a more respectful relationship with their animal companions.

But I don’t want to end on a negative note. Most of the photos are of well-cared for and obviously loved animals and they are incredibly cute. I have this gadget and entertain myself and friends with it for 20-minute stretches at a time.It would be cool if donations to cat protective agencies could happen through this gadget.

thanks for sharing all the wonderful love-filled furry faces, CAT (CarrieAnn T)

  141. K:

I want to add a photo to “Funny Cat Photos”. How do I do dat?

  142. Used Dell Laptops:

It’s really an interesting fact which I just got to know via this blog. Making this blog and keeping it updated is the best possible thing which customer always ask for. So I would like to thank for this interesting knowledge given by the moderator!

  143. Deborah Cheney:

First let me tell you I have never put anything on line before and I have your Funny photos on my homepage and I truly enjoy them and they do brighten my day. That said – Picture of a sphinx cat that has been injured or abused! This is NOT funny. This animal looks in pain or distress and the person who submitted it should be reported for animal cruelty! There are so many uninformed people as to what abuse can look like. Please don’t promote even the possibility.

  144. Sue Loutzenhiser:

I absolutely love the cat photos and have enjoyed sharing them with many friends and family. I also use them as rewards for my classroom. The students will do anything to see a funny cat photo. I have two mainecoon cats at my house, and have some incredibly cute and funny photos too. How can I share some of my best? I would love to continue the website/app. and further expand its popularity. Please let me know! Thank you for the great times!

  145. michael senchak:

Please let me know when I can add a photo of my cats to your website. Thank you, and keep up the good work. Peace.

  146. max:

I am worried about those baby leopards. They look like they miss their mother. I hope you verify the sources of the photos. This could be an illegal operation.

  147. Mary Lou:

    Hi Elias:
As a cat lover, I like the gadget. HOWEVER, I don’t like the ones with profanity. Would you edit those out?

  148. Trish:

Judging by how far the comments on this page go back, I don’t think the owner of this site has any intentions of letting us post our cat pics on, I sent an email a long time ago and have still to receive a reply or acknowledgement!!

It’s a shame cos I have some lovely pics of my cats that I would love to share.

  149. Daniel:

Elias, Please let me know when I can add my own photos.
    Daniel

  150. Barbara:

Love your blog- you are a genius! I found your blog thruogh the Cat Photos app. I don’t know how you keep your sanity with some of these comments above, holy shit. Anyway, love the rest of your blog, very helpful on all things tech.

By the way- when can I e-mail you my vulgar/profane/abusive/PETA outraging cat photos for you to spend your life editing & uploading? I mean, that has to be way easier for me than waiting for you to add a feature, right? It’s not like you have other things to do you know…

  151. Brianna:

I want to submit cat photos please.

  152. Mary MacPhee:

I came across a cat picture that is not funny. Someone is holding a white kitten by the front paws and the cats head is forward. I think it is a cruel way to hold any cat. I am speaking as a person who has had cats all of her life.

  153. John:

This morning, 24 March 2012, I saw a photo of a cat being sucked into a tornado. I felt this was over the top. No doubt a number of animals, cats included, have been killed in recent weeks by these horrible storms. I have seen photos of cattle> I can’t imagine the terror the felt before the died.

Please filter out these types of images. I have a link to your site embedded in my Google home page and normally look forward to them.

  154. Amanda:

I agree with John and Mary. How is a cat being sucked up by a tornado funny? The website is for funny photos. This is not funny. If anything, to post this shows poor taste. Please think before you post any more photos.

  155. Laurie Todd:

Janet; I believe it is an Asian Leopard Cat. They are crossed with Mau, Siamese or Abyssinian to create the Bengal. I owned one named Scrabble that talked a lot, played in water, flushed the toilet, turned lights on/off and opened doors. He was like a monkey and a ferret and a stinker of a brat cat with impressive claws. I loved his energy and goofiness. He even hugged after riding a shoulder.

  156. Jennifer:

Hi, I have loved your photos and forwarded them people for some time now, so it took me by surprise when I found a photo that really upset me. I’m not sure exactly where you get all your random photos from but I wanted to make sure you knew that it’s possible some you might (and others would) find offensive are slipping through the cracks…. This particular one isn’t just “crass offensive”. Please see the link: http://blog.esaba.com/projects/catphotos/catphotos.php?image=1175 for the lower right hand photo. Please consider the content when you repost these things. I’m all for free speech but this is totally unacceptable. Thanks!

  157. Paula:

YES, I agree with those ppl who don’t like pics of cats who are obviously in pain, scared, struggling, or obese. Disturbs me. Get ‘em off there!! Take a little effort to think!!

  158. Linda:

It would be great if you would screen your photos. I really hate to see animal cruelty and it doesn’t say much for you or your website that you publish these.

  159. Carol Abbott:

    http://blog.esaba.com/projects/catphotos/catphotos.php?image=1801

    Hi,
This is the only avenue I could find to talk to the owner of Elias Saba’s Cat Photos page. I like the Gadget that daily brings the great cat photos to me.
Today I saw a picture I must write you about. It shows a beautiful long-haired cat with dirty dark crust around its eyes, the black is running down from the eyes. Under the cat’s nose is dirty. I know that you do not know about this or it would not be there.
    The number is #967138.
    Thank you.
